The first infection was discovered near the edge of the Mississippi river.  Local doctors didn’t know what it was, so FEMA and the FBI were called immediately.

The contagion continued to spread and attempting to remove the growths only resulted in more growing in their place.

The individual growths proved resistent to anti-bactirial, anti-viral and anti-fungal treatments.  They also proved resistent to fire, radiation, and acid.

Containment has so far proven to be to only way to treat any found infections.  FEMA has been given the right to declare martial law and has full clearance to detain all known carriers indefinitely.  Until a way to destroy this alien menace is found we must make be willing to make the hard decisions we need to make to keep humanity alive.
